Facing the Storm
A story about an orphaned duckbilled platypus,
about the young girl who finds him,
and about the true definition of “family.”
Paula Henry was born in New York but relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in journalism. After receiving her B.A from Loyola University, her passion to make a difference in the world led her to becoming an environmental lawyer and then a family lawyer. She is a published freelance journalist and essayist, writing on such topics as self-defense and corporate environmentalism. Paula’s middle-grade novels touch on serious themes children are facing, such as loneliness and loss. But they are balanced by the over-the-top antics of her characters and their beautifully depicted personalities. Much like her characters in Facing the Storm, Paula had been set adrift in the world at a very young age. Perhaps because of that, she imparts a strength of purpose and a sense of hope to her characters. Paula lives in Los Angeles. When she isn’t writing, you can find her surfing, sailing or talking to her quirky critters. Facing the Storm will be her debut novel.
